New pond

This week Trevor and a friend made a new pond in the valley and this little road. They are going to plant a field of corn for the deer. The valley was rearranged quite a bit when all the flooding happened 2 years ago. Many piles of rock have appeared, hillsides have slid, trees are lying all over, and new gullies have formed. Being down there and seeing where the old pond was made me miss my little kids. There was a willow tree they planted and a big tank that they rigged up for spring water to go thru--their swimming pool ;) In the summer they would disappear for long hours having adventures in the woods. I wished I could have them back at those ages for maybe 10 minutes so I could just watch them again. But as John said--then you'll just miss them more. It passed too quickly.

remembering those times kind of choke me up a little cause of what a GOOD, WONDERFUL and HOLSOME childhood I had... I want to go back there too. ALLLL the time we spent in "the valley" playing, w/ Raja and then later Henery playing w/ us down there. What more could a girl want, three little brothers (ones that can fix cars now!), two horses, a cow named Minnie and a valley..?!? I LOVED my childhood. Really loved it. You did a good job, mom. Very good job. I miss it too. sometimes a lot. It was all so simple then. I wonder where that picture went of all three of the boys "riding" Minnie? I had it framed for years. It was such a good, heart warming (for me anyway) picture......

Someday you will do it all over again but with grandkids. How lucky you have been to live in that beautiful place for SO many years.

Reading your blog about your children touched my heart, but reading Tessa's comment made me cry. What a heritege you have with your children. I hope one day I am lucky enough for my children to feel that way about their childhood.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who cried..I was here right after Tessa comment but too forclempt to type, I was tearing up when I read that you want them back for 10 min but John said it would just make you want them back longer. How true. Even though sometimes the hard parts of raising them seems so hard, just to watch them for a while would be so bitter sweet.

I remember the good times my kids had in the valley when we came to visit. They'd come home with interesting rocks and trinkets. It was a simpler time! We need to make a point of getting our grandkids out into nature and away from electronic babysitters. I'll bring mine to visit so we can go back to the valley! Hope we can still make the climb back up cuz I never liked driving up that narrow little path! Trevor and his friend may have a future in roadbuilding!
