Computer problems are making my blog a mess. As I was saying....The lessons we've been doing the last few weeks are about God speaking to us. He speaks by the Holy Spirit thru prayer, the Bible, circumstances, and the church(people). It's made me more conscious of listening. Yesterday I blogged about the manure neighbor and then talked about another neighbor with John and said not-so-nice things. Then I went upstairs to have quiet time and the very first verse I read was Proverbs 11:12 "A man who lacks judgement derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue." Since I had just finished deriding 2 neighbors, I knew this message was for me! I asked myself what I should do with that and felt I should pray for them instead so I did. I will think differently about them now. What an awesome God that He would speak to little ol' me in order to make me into the person He wants me to be!!
These are Jami's flower pots.

Summer Evening
John had the day off yesterday. Since I spend most evenings alone (there's the 3 dogs and I enjoy my own company), it was nice to go to the root beer stand for root beer and ice cream. Stopped in to see Tyler and Jami and sat on the deck. Jami comes from the small town of Minnieska and is the princess of the town. Tyler had this shirt made for her for Christmas. She's a cutey! We went and saw John's mom too. And we were driving home about the same time John comes home from work.
Have a great day!

Procrastination Done?
I am a procrastinator. I get excited about a project, start it, and then...I don't know what happens. But I have unfinished stuff all over. John reminded me last night of the rocker I bought for $15 that is sitting on the porch with the sander sitting on the seat. I started it, but must have gotten waylaid.
So I'm proud of myself for finishing the last two wall hangings. I was SOOO tempted to move on to the new quilt I'm excited to start but I forced myself to finish these first.
Today I get to start the quilt!!! I'd work on the rocker but the guy who farms the land next to us has spread manure this morning and it smells like something 3 years old---NOT GOOD! I won't be spending time out there. I still think he has something against us. He smelled that manure and said, "MMMM this really stinks...the Fahrendholzs get this load".

Amen!
Tessa's quilt is done! It's a king size beauty. One winter John's mom needed something to do so Tessa picked out fabric and I cut strips and delivered them to Jane. She hand sewed all the blocks while watching tv at night and it got her thru winter. It was my job to put the blocks together. I started and got so frustrated I put it away for a year. Hand sewing creates all different sizes and it was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. The next time I was more determined and it got done. A great machine quilter--Maxine Jacobs quilted it and did a splendid job! Tessa and Matt should have many happy years snuggling under this heirloom!

Come and Dine
I haven't had a table and chairs for way over a year. Actually it didn't bother me much and left room in the kitchen, but it just isn't proper ;) Shopko had a 50% off sale today so I snagged a set. I was waiting for son, Tyler, to make me a table but I don't think he was too interested so he's off the hook. Now I'll have to get into the habit of actually using it. I made supper for Tanner tonight and asked if he'd like to eat it at the new table. He said that would be wierd since he was the only one eating.
I'm almost done binding Tessa's quilt--ran out of thread with 2 feet left. Picture tomorrow when I finish.
Think I'll garage sale in the morning.
Last night I watched a good movie from Netflix--"Rails and Ties". It was a 2 snot ragger.

Beautiful Day!
What a gorgeous day it was!! John and I went to Rochester today. He had to pick up blades for the grader and I got to go to Mill End Textiles. I found fabric for my next quilt project. This is a quilt I saw in an antique shop. And the best part is--the fabric was only 75 cents a yard!! I love the excitement of knowing I'm going to start a project I'm going to enjoy.

The Orange Story
When John was little he lived about 2 miles from here on a farm and he went to a little country school right across the road from his house. In the winter his mom always put an orange in his lunch. He hated oranges so every day he'd come home and throw his orange behind a shed into the snow. Kids don't seem to have the ability to think ahead....... Spring came and snow melted and left behind all his oranges. He got in trouble. These days he loves oranges and if they are in the fridge, he eats one or two a day.

Jody brought gifts!
My friend Jody came to visit today. It was fun to have a long visit--it's been awhile. And she brought gifts. I have a new book to read and purse patterns I loaned her and had forgotten and Christmas goodies. Every year she makes up a fine selection of her Christmas goods for me. The last few years I don't see her until later in the year but they taste just like they were made yesterday. Other years the kids would dive in but I don't have as much competition any more. MMMMMMM!
Jody has 5 kids and their family was a lot like ours--there were always goofy family stories and we can relate where some might not understand. I think she should write a blog--she would not be at a loss for things to say--she's a good storyteller.

Trevor's 20
Trevor turned 20 on Wednesday and we celebrated today at Gram's. When I took pictures of the kids on their birthdays when they were younger, I could always count the candles to see how old they were in the picture. Now it's easier for them to show me how old they are since they usually don't get large amounts of candles. Trevor is our third child. Whenever I looked at Tessa and Tyler, I could only see John but I remember sitting on the porch when Trevor was a few days old and looking at his face and I could see me! He's a lot like me too. Growing up he was always full of fun and could tease like no one else. He kept things stirred up so we didn't have too many dull moments. When he was 21 months old we had Tanner and I think he got gipped out of being a baby as long as the others. We moms are so good at the guilt thing. I look at these 4 young adults and just have to SMILE;) I love them!!!!

Beth Moore
Tessa and I went with a group of women from Winona to Mpls. to a Beth Moore conference this weekend. The theme was "Between a Rock and a Hard Place". I've done a lot of her Bible studies and love to listen to her. She is a wild woman of God! Stayed at the Hilton and got our exercise walking to the Target Center. It was a whirlwind trip but good. Lots of stuff to digest when my brain settles down.

Peas in a Pod
Phil has a big garden here and told me I could pick peas and beans so today
I ventured out with my bucket and picked a bunch of peas and some onions.
I then looked for the beans but couldn't find them. I'm not stupid--I know what bean plants look like, and I saw none. We ate some the other day so I know they're there. I'll have to solve that mystery tomorrow. I made creamed peas and onions over potatoes and spare ribs--mmmmmm!

picture of Jed
The picture I posted doesn't seem to be showing up so I will try again. Most pictures of Jed had Trevor right at his side. A boys best friend!
